Chocolate Covered Bacon Recipe

Served at Wurst Haus for Bourbon Pepper Bacon Days!


12 Hermann Wurst Haus Bourbon Pepper Bacon strips (1 lb.)

12 wooden skewers

6 oz white candy coating, chopped 

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1 tablespoon shortening

Toppings: chopped nuts, kosher salt, cayenne pepper, brown sugar


Thread each strip of bacon onto a skewer. Place skewers on a wire rack on a large baking sheet. Bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes or until crisp. Cool completely.

Melt the white candy coating in the microwave, stir until smooth. Combine chocolate chips and shortening; melt in the microwave and stir until smooth. 

With pastry brushes, coat the bacon on both sides with melted coatings. Top each strip with toppings if desired. Place on wax paper lined baking sheets. Refrigerate until firm. Store in the refrigerator.
