Wurst Haus Wins Big at the 2017 Wurstfest

The Hermann Wurst Haus won thirteen prestigious awards for their artisan, hand crafted smoked and fresh sausages on Saturday March 25th at Hermann’s annual Wurstfest competition.
The Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the 38th Annual Wurstfest Competition, a statewide contest among gourmet sausage makers.
Hermann Wurst Haus received thirteen awards including four Grand Champion awards for Traditional Summer Sausage, Exotic Sausage (Sweet Peppered Venison Bologna), Italian Sausage and Smoked Pork Sausage; five Reserve Grand Champion awards for Smoked Bratwurst (Best of Show Bratwurst), Braunschweiger, Leberwurst, Schwartenmagen, and Blutwurst (Blood Sausage); four Champion awards for Summer Sausage, Andouille, Snack Sticks (BBQ Flavor) and Fresh Pork Sausage (Wurst Haus Original).
This prestigious event attracts amateur and professional sausage makers from throughout Missouri and Indiana. Judges evaluated 160 entries in 24 professional and amateur categories.
This year’s winners were determined by a panel of meat industry judges.
More than 2,000 visitors attended this year’s event held at Stone Hill Winery. Visitors sampled the various gourmet sausages from seven sausage venders. German music and the Wurstjaeger dancers were enjoyed by all.
