National Pecan Day - April 14

Posted by Patty Held on 28th Mar 2014

National Pecan Day is April 14th, and we found some interesting pecan facts for this buttery, tasty nut.

The pecan tree is the only nut tree native to North America.

Both George Washington and Thomas Jefferson planted pecan trees.

The word "pecan" is a Native American word of Algonquin origin that was used to describe “all nuts requiring a stone to crack.”

Pecan Smoked Bacon is one of Wurstmeister Mike's favorite bacon flavors.

In honor of this national food holiday, we will offer a bacon special; buy 5 packs of bacon, any flavor, and get 1 pack of Pecan Smoked Bacon free!  Offer good for in store purchases only.
