Big Win at 2018 Wurstfest

The Hermann Wurst Haus won eleven prestigious awards for their artisan, hand crafted smoked and fresh sausages, jerky and snack sticks on Saturday March 24th at Hermann’s annual Wurstfest competition.
The Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the 39th Annual Wurstfest Competition, a statewide contest among gourmet sausage makers.
Hermann Wurst Haus received eleven awards including five Grand Champion awards for Braunschweiger, Blutwurst (Blood Sausage), Schwartenmagen, Smoked Bratwurst (Rhine Valley Smoked Sausage), Specialty Sausage (Bacon Cheddar Potato Bratwurst); four Reserve Grand Champion awards for Andouille, Fresh Pork Sausage, Whole Muscle Jerky (BBQ Flavor), Snack Sticks (BBQ Flavor); two Champion awards for Leberwurst (Liverwurst) and Smoked Pork Sausage.
This prestigious event attracts amateur and professional sausage makers from throughout Missouri. Judges evaluated 161 entries in 24 professional and amateur categories.
This year’s winners were determined by a panel of meat industry judges.
More than 2,000 visitors attended this year’s event held at Stone Hill Winery and a downtown Hermann location. Visitors sampled the various gourmet sausages from ten sausage venders. German music and the Wurstjaeger dancers were enjoyed by all.
